Printing Tools
OK kids you are now stepping into my little world. My MTV mug I bought for a dollar before they went outta business this past month, holds the coffee very nice. I ink ontop of a piece of plexiglass also used when I make monotpes. Usually I have a some kind of system to register the plate in this case a tree stump. On the paper you will notice two notches and then I outlined the stump to make sure I printed 75 consistent prints. That little round wooden thing was my friend Tessa's, it is a cabinet knob. I rub mostly all of the prints I made within the last year with this little knob. My broken down old phone that I don't want to get a new because I would have to relearn how to use the silly thing. To make things less toxic I clean up with regular cooking oil like corn oil.
I share all of this with you because the entire production takes about two feet of a table top. One foot for the inking and the other for the clean paper and printing. The more I make art the more I learn if there is a will there is a way, I love printing, but do not love heading to a printmaking studio to make the work. So this is a great solution that takes so little space. Oh you don't have to line all your prints on the floor either I just did that because I like to see things in a series. But I could have let them dry between sheets of newsprint.
